Standard Bank Namibia has achieved 95% compliance with the National Disability Accessibility Standards following an independent assessment of its Head Office, strengthening its commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion through a new partnership with the National Disability Council of Namibia (NDCN).

The accessibility assessment, conducted by the NDCN on 8 July 2026, found that the bank’s Head Office meets most national accessibility requirements, positioning it among Namibia’s leading examples of accessible infrastructure and inclusive service delivery.

The assessment evaluated parking facilities, building entrances, circulation routes, ramps, lifts, ablution facilities, customer service areas and emergency evacuation systems.

According to the report, the bank’s facilities provide people with disabilities with safe, independent and dignified access to banking services, while identifying a small number of areas for further improvement.

Following the assessment, Standard Bank Namibia and the NDCN entered into a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening disability inclusion across the bank’s operations.

The partnership will focus on enhancing accessibility infrastructure, expanding disability awareness and sensitisation training for employees, improving access to assistive technologies and delivering more inclusive customer experiences across the bank’s service channels.

Standard Bank Namibia Talent Acquisition Specialist Cameron Kali said the assessment marks an important milestone in the bank’s broader diversity, equity and inclusion strategy.

“At Standard Bank Namibia, we believe that true progress is achieved when everyone has equal access to opportunities, services and workplaces. Our partnership with the National Disability Council of Namibia reflects our commitment to building a more inclusive future and advancing the national Diversity, Equity and Inclusion agenda for the benefit of all Namibians,” Kali said.

He said achieving 95% compliance demonstrates progress but noted that the bank remains committed to continuous improvement.

“Achieving 95% compliance with the National Disability Accessibility Standards is an important milestone, but it is only part of our journey. We remain committed to continuous improvement and to creating an environment where employees, customers and stakeholders of all abilities can participate fully and thrive,” he said.

The NDCN commended Standard Bank Namibia for its proactive approach to accessibility and inclusion, describing the bank as a positive example for both the public and private sectors.

The council said it will continue working with the bank to implement the assessment’s recommendations and ensure continued alignment with national accessibility standards and international best practices.

Standard Bank Namibia said accessibility forms part of its broader commitment to creating equal opportunities, promoting economic participation and embedding inclusive practices across its operations.
