Bank Windhoek has appointed banking executive Leon Koch as its permanent Executive Officer for Retail Banking Services, effective 1 July 2026, as the lender strengthens its customer-facing operations.
Koch, who has more than 35 years of experience in the banking and insurance sectors, will oversee the bank’s Retail Banking Services division, which includes all Bank Windhoek branches and agencies, as well as its Vehicle and Asset Finance and Property Finance businesses.
He joined Bank Windhoek in 2017 and has held several executive leadership positions, including Executive Officer for Capricorn Private Wealth, Commercial and Bancassurance, and most recently Executive Officer for Business Banking.
He has also served in an acting capacity as Executive Officer for Retail Banking Services and Capricorn Private Wealth.
Bank Windhoek Managing Director James Chapman said Koch’s appointment reinforces the bank’s focus on enhancing customer experience and relationship-led banking.
“Leon Koch brings deep market knowledge, proven executive experience and a clear understanding of what customers expect from a proudly Namibian bank. His leadership will be instrumental as we continue to enhance customer experience, grow trusted relationships and deliver solutions that support the financial aspirations of our customers,” Chapman said.
Chapman said Koch’s experience in personal, commercial and branch banking, combined with his understanding of the Namibian market, positions him to lead the Retail Banking Services division through its next phase of growth.
Koch holds a Master of Science in International Banking and Finance from the University of Salford, completed through Salford Business School in Zurich. He has also completed the Senior Management Development Programme at GIBS University in Pretoria and the Management Development Programme at Stellenbosch Business School.
According to Bank Windhoek, Koch has built a career focused on driving business growth, developing high-performing teams and executing strategy across banking operations in Namibia and elsewhere in Africa.
Chapman said the appointment reflects the bank’s continued commitment to strengthening customer experience and reinforcing its position as a locally focused financial institution.
