The German Robert Koch Institute (RKI) has removed Namibia from the list of high-risk areas, making it easier for Namibians to travel to Germany starting from Sunday, 12 September 2021.
The decision was announced on Friday, September 10, by RKI, which is an agency subordinate to the German Ministry of Health, in charge for disease control and prevention.
What does this mean?
The decision means that vaccinated travellers who have been vaccinated with a vaccine approved in Germany, with valid proof of immunity can enter Germany for non-essential purposes as well, and without the need to undergo special registration, proof and quarantine requirements.
The latest development comes as Namibia in August was downgraded from being classified as “virus variant areas” by the RKI, to being designated areas of “High Risk”.
