TotalEnergies to kick off Namibia 3D seismic shoot early next year

TotalEnergies will kick off a 3D seismic shoot early next year over the southern part of 2913B to cover the promising Damara and South Damara structures in Namibia’s Orange basin, Africa Oil has revealed.

Africa Oil is a Canadian-listed oil and gas company with an indirect 6.2% stake in the two blocks in Blocks 2913B and 2912, through its 31.1% ownership of Impact Oil & Gas.

“It looks extremely attractive, and the 3D will be shot in the early part of 2024,” Chief Executive of Africa Oil, Roger Tucker, was quoted by Upstream.

He said that by the fourth quarter next year, results should also be known from the ongoing Venus-1A appraisal well, where the Deepsea Mira has been performing drill stem testing and multiple flares were recently seen on satellite data.

“This is an asset for which we have to focus our attention because it is material to a company of our size. It is a very, very large block, and we have follow-on exploration prospectively,” Tucker said.

TotalEnergies, in September, announced positive results from its Venus-1A appraisal well, situated in Block 2913B, approximately 13 km north of the Venus-1X discovery well.

The French supermajor is presently conducting a multi-well appraisal and exploration drilling program in Namibia. Namibia expects the first oil from major offshore finds by 2030.-https://miningandenergy.com.na/
