HOPSOL Africa has appointed Andries Johannes Vermeulen as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for a two-year term, effective from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2028.

Vermeulen replaces Silvester Wayiti, who was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Regional Electricity Distributor (NORED).

Vermeulen is a qualified electrical engineer with more than 27 years of professional experience spanning technical, leadership and industry roles.

HOPSOL said Vermeulen has extensive experience in the renewable and green energy sector and continues to contribute to the industry through advisory roles and service on several boards.

The company said his experience and industry knowledge are expected to support HOPSOL’s next phase of development and the implementation of its strategic objectives.

“The Board is confident that Mr Vermeulen’s experience, leadership and vision will contribute significantly to the continued growth and success of HOPSOL,” the company said.

HOPSOL Africa is a subsidiary of Alpha Namibia Industries Renewable Power Limited (ANIREP), a company listed on the Namibia Securities Exchange (NSX) and involved in renewable energy development.
