The Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) is collaborating with industry partners, namely the Namibia Petroleum Operators Association (NAMPOA), Recon Namibia, the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia, and The Brief to host public lectures aimed at increasing public knowledge and awareness about the oil and gas sector.

The lectures will provide an opportunity to better understand the industry and disseminate information about recent discoveries and ongoing exploration activities.

The upcoming lecture, titled “Understanding Oil and Gas from Exploration Stage to Production and Where Namibia is on the Timeline,” will take place on Thursday, April 20th.

The lectures are particularly timely as Namibia’s recent discovery of oil and gas has generated hot debate and heightened public interest in the sector.

The event will feature notable speakers, namely Martin Negonga, Vice Chairperson of NAMPOA, and Ansgar Wanke, Senior Geologist at Reconnaissance Energy Namibia.

The lecture will cover both onshore and offshore exploration activities and provide insights into Namibia’s role as an active player in the global oil and gas sector.

Negonga, who is also an Asset Manager at NAMCOR, will bring his extensive experience in geophysics and asset management to the event. Wanke, a geologist with over 20 years of experience in the field, will provide valuable insights into research projects related to Namibian offshore and onshore basins.
