SACU appoints Thabo David Khasipe Executive Secretary

The Southern African Customs Union (SACU) Council of Ministers has appointed Thabo David Khasipe as the new Executive Secretary, effective from the 1st of February 2023.

Khasipe previously served as the Deputy Executive Director of SACU from 2015 to 2016, and until recently, he was the Commissioner-General of the Revenue Services of Lesotho.

He replaces Paulina Elago, who concluded her second and final term as SACU Executive Secretary.

Alma Andrade, currently the Director of Corporate Services, had been the Acting Executive Secretary from the 18th of October 2022 until the 31st of January 2023.

The Windhoek-based customs union consists of Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa, and Eswatini.
