Government has this year received N$900 million in dividends from the Namibia Post and Telecom Holdings (NPTH).

This comes as the company on Friday declared a N$400 million dividend for the 2021 financial year, with N$ 165 million being an Ordinary dividend and N$ 235 million being a Special dividend.

In April, dividends of N$300 million of which N$ 263 million were ordinary and N$ 37 million were declared for the 2020 financial year.

In January, a dividend of N$200 million was paid to the Government for the financial year 2019.

“In addition to the entity’s two main revenue streams (property rental and dividends received from subsidiaries), one of the three NPTH subsidiaries, MTC honoured its obligation towards the holding company by declaring dividends of N$ 397.3 million during the financial year under review,” NPTH board Chairperson Sencia Kaizemi-Rukata said.

To date, a total dividend of N$ 2,7 billion has been paid by the company to the Government.

NPTH is the Holding Company which has a 100% vested ownership in Telecom Namibia Limited (Telecom), Namibia Post Limited (NamPost) and now 51% in Mobile Telecommunication Ltd (MTC).

It is also the custodian responsible for the management and administration of properties on behalf of its subsidiaries.
