The Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA) says it will be conducting the second edition of the Time Release Study (TRS) at the Trans-Kalahari Border Post in the Omaheke region.
The TRS is a strategic and internationally recognised tool developed by the World Customs Organisation to measure the actual time required for the release or clearance of goods, from the time of arrival until the physical release of the cargo.
“This (the study) is done with a view of highlighting bottlenecks in the trade flow process and implementation measures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of border procedures,” said NamRA Chief Strategic Communication and Support Engagement, Yarukeekuro Ndorokaze.
The workshop is scheduled from 15 to 25 January. In December, the Agency held a similar workshop in Walvis Bay to ascertain the time release at NamPort.
As such, Ndorokaze said the study is done in accordance with Article 7.6 of the World Trade Organisation Trade Facilitation Agreement, which entails measuring the actual clearance time of cargo from the time of arrival in Namibia until the physical release of the shipment.
