Choppies Namibia opened three new stores this week at Oshakati and Rosh Pinah bringing its total number of stores to 18 and creating 130 additional jobs

This comes as earlier this year the Botswana headquartered supermarket said it is targeting to have 50 retail stores across Namibia as it aims to open 35 shops within five years

This strategic move not only marks a significant milestone in Choppies Namibias growth but also reflects the companys commitment to providing quality products and services across various regions said Choppies Namibia Country Manager Deon Bauermeister

The new stores bring the total number of Choppies outlets in Namibia to an impressive 18 reinforcing the brands position as a trusted and preferred shopping destination for the local community

He further highlighted that the creation of employment is a testament to Choppies dedication to contributing to the economic development of the country it serves The overall countrywide employment now stands at 818

Botswana Stock Exchange listed Choppies made its debut in Namibia in 2017 opening its first store in Omuthiya

This expansion not only allows us to better serve the community but also contributes significantly to the local economy by creating new jobs We remain committed to providing exceptional shopping experiences and being a responsible corporate citizen said Bauermeister

The Choppies expansion come amid plans by Metro Namibia to launch supermarkets a development expected to increase competition in a highly competition sector

Choppies operates in 4 countries and has a network of 161 stores and nine distribution centres
