Hyphen was recognized alongside nine other leaders in renewable energy.

The Energy Transition Changemakers is a new initiative introduced by the COP28 Presidency that aims to foster private sector collaboration in delivering innovative decarbonization projects, targeting renewables, efficiency, heavy emitters, and hydrogen sectors.

“We are honored that our project has been recognized as one of the world’s leading renewable energy projects in this pioneering initiative designed by the COP28 Presidency. As Namibia’s first large-scale hydrogen project, we have an enormous responsibility to lead the way for those that will follow us in helping Namibia on her journey of creating a green industrialized economy,” Marco Raffinetti, CEO of Hyphen Hydrogen Energy said.

The company said the award demonstrates the significance of the Hyphen project and the transformative impact it will have for Namibia’s economy and people, as well as African and global decarbonization efforts.

At full-scale development, anticipated before the end of this decade, the project will produce two million tonnes of green ammonia annually for regional and global markets.

The HyShift project in South Africa, in which Hyphen’s shareholder ENERTRAG is a core partner, was also selected as an Energy Transition Changemaker.

The project will produce sustainable aviation fuel, utilizing green hydrogen as its feedstock.-miningandenergy.com.na
