The Electricity Control Board (ECB) and NamPower will convene electricity industry stakeholders on 15 October to discuss digital innovation, investment and the transformation of Namibia’s electricity sector.

The discussions will form part of the 2026 Namibia Electricity Supply Industry Games (NESIG) Forum, bringing together regulators, utilities, distributors and other industry stakeholders.

The Forum will be followed by the NESIG Games from 16 to 18 October, with employees from organisations across the electricity supply industry expected to participate in sporting activities.

NESIG planning committee member Nelson Ashipala said the platform is intended to strengthen coordination among institutions operating across the electricity sector.

“The electricity sector does not operate in isolation. The challenges and opportunities facing the industry require collaboration between regulators, utilities, distributors and other stakeholders,” Ashipala said.

“NESIG gives us an opportunity to come together, have meaningful discussions, share experiences and plan collectively for the future of Namibia’s electricity sector.”

The ECB said this year’s Forum will focus on issues affecting the development of the electricity supply industry, including digital innovation, collaboration, investment and broader sector transformation.

Ashipala said the sporting programme is aimed at strengthening working relationships among employees from different institutions in the sector.

“While the Forum focuses on industry engagement and planning, the Games allow us to build relationships and teamwork in a different environment,” he said.

The ECB and NamPower said preparations for the three-day Games are on track, with participating organisations working to finalise arrangements ahead of the October programme.
