Safland’s Lüderitz mall targets October 2027 opening with Shoprite as anchor tenant

Safland Property Group is targeting an October 2027 opening for its N$220 million Buchter Village Mall in Lüderitz, with Shoprite secured as the anchor tenant for the 25-shop development.

The project is expected to expand retail and commercial space in the coastal town, comprising retail outlets, limited office space and a hospitality component.

Buchter Village Mall was officially launched with a groundbreaking ceremony on 26 September 2025 and is being developed on a 23,000-square-metre site at the corner of Wagenbauer Street and Lüderitz Street, approximately 30 metres from the B4 road entering the town.

The mall will have a gross lettable area of 7,970 square metres and is expected to accommodate 25 shops when it opens, with Shoprite serving as the anchor tenant.

The project comes as Lüderitz attracts growing investment and development activity, increasing demand for additional retail, accommodation and commercial infrastructure in the town.

Buchter Village Mall follows Safland’s involvement in the N$270 million Goreangab Mall development in Windhoek.

The 14,500-square-metre Goreangab Mall was developed through a partnership between Oryx Properties Limited and Safland Property Group.

Safland has expanded its Namibian property portfolio since establishing operations in the country in 2011.

The company has completed 11 property developments valued at approximately N$3 billion, including major shopping centres such as Grove Mall in Windhoek and Dunes Mall in Walvis Bay, developed in collaboration with South African property developer Atterbury.
