MUMI Investment Managers and the Namibia Investment & Finance Academy (NIFA) have launched a three-year national programme to strengthen Namibia’s pipeline of investment professionals as demand grows for skilled talent in the country’s expanding capital markets.

The Namibia Capital Markets Talent Development Programme will be implemented as a three-year pilot, combining industry-focused training, internationally recognised professional certifications and practical workplace experience to prepare future investment professionals.

The programme includes structured workshops, Bloomberg terminal training, support for globally recognised qualifications such as the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) and Financial Modelling and Valuation Analyst (FMVA), as well as internship placements from 2027.

NIFA Chief Executive Officer Arinze Okafor said the initiative responds to growing demand for professionals capable of managing Namibia’s increasing institutional capital while meeting higher governance and fiduciary standards.

“Namibia has built a substantial pool of institutional capital, but our long-term success depends on developing the professionals capable of managing, allocating and governing that capital. This partnership creates a structured pathway from academic potential to internationally recognised professional qualifications, practical investment experience and industry leadership,” Okafor said.

MUMI Investment Managers Executive Director Megameno Shetunyenga said the sector must invest in developing future professionals to ensure the long-term sustainability of Namibia’s investment industry.

“Developing Namibia’s investment profession requires more than recruiting experienced people; it requires deliberately investing in future talent. Through this partnership, we are helping create a sustainable pipeline of skilled professionals who will strengthen the investment industry,” Shetunyenga said.
