Bank Windhoek has launched its EasyWallet On-Send feature, which allows customers to send money instantly from one EasyWallet to another, anywhere and at any time.

The bank said the new feature enables users to transfer funds seamlessly between wallets, even to individuals without a bank account, through its USSD Cellphone Banking menu.

The service, which underwent a successful soft launch earlier this month, is now officially available to the public.

“The EasyWallet On-Send feature represents a first in the Namibian banking industry, enabling users to transfer funds seamlessly between wallets, even to individuals who do not hold a bank account,” Bank Windhoek said.

Currently available to MTC mobile users, the bank said the service will soon extend to TN Mobile customers to increase accessibility.

To ensure compliance and security, customers must complete a one-time Know Your Customer (KYC) verification by entering their identity or passport number before making their first transaction.

“This simple step ensures that every transfer is protected, offering users confidence and peace of mind,” the bank said.

The bank added that the process also helps it understand customer needs better, allowing for more personalised and relevant services in the future.

With EasyWallet On-Send, customers can perform several transactions daily, with a limit of N$2,000 per day, which will be reviewed as user demand evolves.

James Chapman, Managing Director of Bank Windhoek, said the launch marks a major milestone in the bank’s digital journey and its ongoing commitment to financial inclusion.

“This launch marks a significant step forward in our commitment to financial inclusion, digital innovation, and secure, convenient payments,” Chapman said. “The EasyWallet On-Send feature demonstrates our drive to offer solutions that meet customers where they are — simply, safely and instantly.”

Chapman urged customers to make use of the feature and experience the simplicity and convenience of wallet-to-wallet transfers.

Bank Windhoek said the new service reaffirms its goal of providing inclusive, accessible and secure banking solutions that connect more Namibians to instant digital payments.
