Standard Bank Namibia has upgraded its Digital Personal Loan Service, allowing customers to apply for and top up loans instantly through Internet Banking or Cellphone Banking. The move eliminates the need for paperwork, branch visits or internet access.
The bank said the enhanced service supports Namibia’s efforts to tackle financial exclusion, particularly in rural and underserved areas where many people still lack access to formal banking.
Burger Smit, Head of Digital and eCommerce at Standard Bank Namibia, said the upgraded platform promotes responsible lending and financial empowerment.
“Our enhanced Digital Lending platform is designed to empower clients with secure, transparent, and scalable financial tools that support long-term financial health. This is responsible lending in action , ensuring that clients borrow within their means, with clear repayment structures and access to financial guidance,” he said.
The Digital Personal Loan Service provides pre-approved loan offers based on clients’ credit profiles and offers structured monthly repayments with secure, encrypted transactions.
He said customers can view pre-approved offers directly on Internet Banking dashboards, top up existing personal loans, and receive instant disbursement of funds into their accounts.
The service according to Smit, also requires no paperwork, no queues, and no data when using cellphone banking, with all transactions verified through a One-Time Pin for security.
Smit said the initiative forms part of the bank’s broader digital innovation strategy to make financial services more accessible.
“Standard Bank Namibia remains committed to championing growth and supporting national development through innovative, client-centric solutions that empower all Namibians, urban and rural alike,” he said.
