From Influence to Impact: ICAN National Accounting Summit 2026 set to shape conversations on Namibia’s economic future

Stage setup for ICAN National Accounting Summit 2024 with five white chairs, microphones, and water bottles on a patterned backdrop.

With Namibia’s economy undergoing significant transformation, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Namibia (ICAN) is bringing together some of the country’s leading minds in finance, business, governance and economic development for the National Accounting Summit 2026, taking place on 22–23 October 2026.

Under the theme “From Influence to Impact: Shaping Trust, Growth and Sustainability in a Transforming Economy,” the Summit promises to be more than just another professional gathering. It will provide a platform for meaningful conversations about Namibia’s economic future and the role of the accounting profession in shaping it.

As Namibia positions itself to benefit from emerging opportunities in oil and gas, green hydrogen, renewable energy and other strategic sectors, questions around governance, investment confidence, accountability and sustainable development have become increasingly important.

At the centre of these conversations is the accounting profession, whose responsibilities extend far beyond preparing financial statements and ensuring compliance.

Moving Beyond the Numbers

Building on the previous Summit theme, “Shaping the Future of Accounting through Influence and Innovation,” this year’s event challenges professionals to take the next step: translating their influence, expertise and innovation into measurable impact.

The question is no longer simply how accountants can influence decision-making, but how they can actively contribute to building stronger institutions, attracting investment, supporting business growth and advancing Namibia’s development agenda.

The Summit will explore these questions through engaging presentations and panel discussions featuring professionals and industry leaders from different sectors.

Conversations That Matter to Namibia

Among the key discussions will be the evolving role of the Executive Leader, examining how executive leaders are increasingly becoming strategic partners in driving organisational performance and navigating economic uncertainty.

Another important conversation will focus on building trust through auditing, particularly at a time when expectations around transparency, accountability and the quality of financial information continue to grow.

The Summit will also explore environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting, including the growing importance of sustainability-related financial disclosures and how businesses can create value beyond financial performance.

Other discussions will examine corporate governance, investor confidence, Namibia’s economic outlook, regional integration and global competitiveness.

These are not conversations that concern accountants alone. They affect business owners, investors, policymakers, regulators and ultimately every Namibian who stands to benefit from a stronger and more resilient economy.

More Than a Conference

Beyond the presentations and panel discussions, the Summit offers a valuable opportunity for professionals to exchange ideas, establish meaningful connections and gain fresh perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing their organisations.

For young professionals, it is an opportunity to learn from experienced industry leaders. For executives and decision-makers, it provides a platform to engage with peers and explore practical approaches to navigating change.

Most importantly, the Summit seeks to inspire action beyond the conference room.

Be Part of the Conversation

With Namibia at an important point in its economic development journey, the conversations taking place today will help shape the opportunities of tomorrow.

The ICAN National Accounting Summit 2026 is an opportunity to be part of those conversations, contribute to meaningful dialogue and explore how the profession can help build a more trusted, competitive and sustainable economy.

The Summit takes place on 22–23 October 2026.

The future of Namibia’s economy is not something we should simply observe. It is something we should actively help shape. Join ICAN as we move from influence to impact.
