About 2,400 young Namibians are expected to directly benefit from a N$500,000 investment by the Capricorn Foundation into education, digital skills, entrepreneurship and other development programmes at the #BeFree Youth Campus.

The funding, pledged to the One Economy Foundation, will finance 21 educational and youth development programmes, targeting adolescents and young people seeking academic support and practical skills.

Programmes covered by the funding include after-school academic support, digital and computer literacy training, STEM and robotics, entrepreneurship development, leadership training, wellness initiatives and recreational activities.

Beyond the 2,400 direct beneficiaries, the initiative is expected to indirectly reach more than 8,000 community members through family wellbeing, community engagement and youth support systems.

The N$500,000 pledge was announced during the One Economy Foundation Gala Dinner on 1 October 2026.

The investment comes amid increased focus on equipping young Namibians with skills that can improve their prospects in education, employment and entrepreneurship.

Capricorn Foundation Executive Director Marlize Horn said investing in young people could have broader economic and social benefits.

“Young people are central to Namibia’s future prosperity. When we invest in their education, well-being and skills development, we create opportunities not only for individual success but also for stronger communities and a more resilient economy,” Horn said.

She said the #BeFree Youth Campus provides an environment where young people can access educational and developmental support.

“The #BeFree Youth Campus offers a safe, enabling environment where young people can access the support, knowledge and opportunities needed to unlock their potential. We are proud to partner with the One Economy Foundation to advance this important work,” Horn said.

The investment falls under the Capricorn Foundation’s education focus area, which supports programmes aimed at improving access to skills and opportunities.

The Foundation was established by Capricorn Group in February 2020 and is funded by its Namibian subsidiaries, Bank Windhoek, Capricorn Asset Management and Entrepo.
