Trophy held in a hand against a red background, text reads 'Started from the bottom, now we're platinum' with YANGO as Platinum Winner 2026.

Regional recognition highlights Yango’s commitment to quality, safety, innovation and locally tailored mobility solutions across Southern Africa

Yango Group, the global technology company, has been named the Most Reliable Ride-Hailing Service Provider in Southern Africa at the 2026 Southern African Brand Quality Awards (SABQA).

The company also received the Brand Quality Excellence Seal, recognising its commitment to internationally recognised standards of quality, customer experience and operational excellence across the region.

The recognition reflects Yango’s continued investment in technology designed to meet the evolving mobility needs of African cities while maintaining consistently high service standards as it expands across the continent.

Today in Southern Africa, Yango Group operates across Zambia, Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique and Angola, providing locally tailored mobility solutions that extend beyond ride-hailing.

Depending on the market, the platform also offers food delivery, parcel and cargo delivery services, business mobility solutions and other digital services that connect millions of users with thousands of partner drivers, couriers and local businesses.

By combining global technology with deep local expertise, Yango develops services tailored to the needs of Southern African communities.

Commenting on the recognition, Alex Mungai, Country Manager for Yango in Namibia, said: “Receiving this recognition is a testament to the collective efforts of our passengers, partner drivers, couriers, fleet partners, and local teams across Southern Africa.

It reflects our shared commitment to delivering dependable, safe, and accessible mobility solutions. As we expand across Africa, we will continue investing in technology that is tailored to local communities and helps make everyday life easier.”

The award also reflects Yango’s continued investment in technologies that strengthen trust across its platform. Over the past year, the company has introduced several new safety innovations across its Southern African markets, enhancing transparency and confidence for both passengers and partner drivers.

Among the latest features is the Passenger Completed Profile Badge, which enables partner drivers to identify passengers who have verified key account information, including their name and selfie. By helping partner drivers make more informed decisions before accepting trips, the feature promotes accountability while strengthening trust between users and partner drivers.

Beyond individual innovations, Yango continues to build one of the region’s most comprehensive in-app safety ecosystems. Across its Southern African markets, users benefit from safety features before, during and after every trip, including the in-app Safety Centre, SOS emergency assistance, live trip tracking and sharing, route monitoring, driver identity verification, trusted contacts, route deviation alerts and 24/7 support. Together, these features are designed to make journeys safer while providing greater transparency and peace of mind for both passengers and partner drivers.

Alongside its technology investments, Yango continues to strengthen local mobility ecosystems across Southern Africa through driver education, road safety awareness programmes, partner support initiatives and community projects. Working closely with fleet partners and local entrepreneurs, the company is helping create new economic opportunities while supporting the long-term development of the mobility sector.

As Yango Group continues to expand across Africa, it remains committed to working with local stakeholders, investing in innovative technologies and developing services that improve everyday life while supporting entrepreneurship and sustainable economic growth in the communities it serves.
