Two professionals in business attire hold a large Memorandum of Agreement featuring NCCI and CRAN logos during a signing ceremony.

Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are set to benefit from regulatory reforms, improved cybersecurity and expanded digital trade opportunities under a new three-year partnership between the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) and the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI).

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed in Windhoek on Thursday, aims to remove barriers to digital business by promoting electronic trade, strengthening cybersecurity, advancing digital identity systems and improving digital skills across the private sector.

NCCI Chief Executive Officer Titus Nampala said the partnership is intended to help Namibian businesses become more competitive by equipping them with the tools and knowledge needed to participate in the digital economy.

“Digital transformation is not just about technology, but it is about creating opportunities for businesses of all sizes to grow and innovate. This partnership will enable our members to access critical knowledge, resources and support to succeed in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. Through this collaboration, we aim to facilitate policy reforms, boost digital literacy and promote e-trade initiatives that will open new markets for Namibian enterprises, especially Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), both locally and across borders,” said Nampala.

CRAN Chief Executive Officer Emilia Nghikembua said the agreement will strengthen collaboration between the regulator and the private sector while helping create a secure and trusted digital environment for businesses.

“This MoU marks a pivotal step towards building a resilient and secure digital environment in Namibia. By working together, CRAN and NCCI aim to empower businesses and citizens with the skills, trust and infrastructure needed to thrive in the digital age. Our joint efforts will foster innovation, improve cybersecurity awareness and promote policies that support digital entrepreneurship, ensuring Namibia remains competitive regionally and globally,” she said.

The partnership will focus on Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), cybersecurity, digital transformation, e-trade facilitation, regulatory standards, legislative reform, digital literacy and capacity building to support Namibia’s transition to a more competitive and inclusive digital economy.

The two organisations have established a Joint Steering Committee to coordinate implementation of the agreement, monitor progress and conduct periodic reviews throughout the three-year partnership.
