Capricorn Group has appointed Nangula Hamunyela as an independent non-executive director, strengthening the Namibia Securities Exchange listed financial services group’s board.

The appointment took effect on 2 July 2026, with Hamunyela replacing Elize Fahl, who stepped down from the board on 1 July after serving as an independent non-executive director for five years.

Hamunyela brings more than two decades of leadership experience spanning banking, energy, logistics and corporate governance, having held senior leadership roles across the public and private sectors. She previously served as Managing Director of Engen Namibia and Nedloans and was Board Chairperson of Namport.

She currently chairs BW Finance (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Bank Windhoek, as well as the Namibia Procurement Fund.

Hamunyela holds a Master of Business Administration, a Bachelor of Commerce degree and several other management qualifications.

Capricorn Group Board Chairperson Gerhard Fourie said Hamunyela’s appointment would strengthen the board as the group pursues its strategic objectives.

“Her extensive leadership experience, governance insight and strategic perspective will contribute meaningfully to the Group as it continues to advance its strategic priorities and create value for its stakeholders,” Fourie said.
