Congo has signalled its intention to strengthen trade and economic cooperation with Namibia, with President Denis Sassou Nguesso highlighting the strategic importance of closer commercial ties between the two countries.

The remarks were made during a meeting with Namibia’s newly appointed Ambassador to the Republic of Congo, Hopelong Uushona Ipinge, following the presentation of his Letters of Credence in Brazzaville.

President Sassou Nguesso said deeper economic cooperation could be advanced through collaboration in port infrastructure development, trade facilitation and regional connectivity initiatives, which he described as potential drivers of economic growth and regional integration.

The presentation of credentials formally marked Ipinge’s assumption of duty as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Namibia to the Republic of Congo, reinforcing bilateral engagement between the two nations.

During discussions, Ipinge reaffirmed Namibia’s high regard for the Republic of Congo and expressed a strong desire to deepen cooperation across a broad range of sectors, including trade, investment, regional development and cooperation on multilateral platforms.

The meeting underscored a shared commitment by both governments to strengthen economic ties and explore practical areas of collaboration that could support long-term growth and integration within the region.
