FirstRand Namibia appoints Otto Shikongo Deputy Chair

Otto Shikongo has been appointed Deputy Chairperson of the Board of FirstRand Namibia, effective from the 19th of October 2023.

The former Debmarine Namibia CEO joined the listed group board in February of this year as an independent non-executive director.

Shikongo, who retired from the marine diamond mining company last year, had been at the helm since January 1, 2004, and was also appointed to the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR) board in June.

Shikongo is a registered Professional Engineer in Namibia and South Africa and holds a Master of Engineering degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom. He has also completed notable executive development programs, including the Senior Management Development Programme at the University of Stellenbosch Business School, the Executive Development Programme at Ashridge, and the Senior Executive Programme at the London Business School.

FirstRand Namibia’s portfolio of financial services businesses includes FNB Namibia, RMB Namibia, WesBank Namibia, Ashburton Investments Namibia, and PointBreak Wealth Management.
