The tourism industry in Walvis Bay is expected to receive a significant boost on Monday as the Queen Mary 2 cruise liner is set to dock, bringing with it 2,000 guests.
The visit marks the vessel’s final stop in Africa before it sets off for its next destination, the Canary Islands.
The Queen Mary 2, which boasts 13 decks, 1,363 cabins, and a length of 334 meters, is no stranger to the port, having previously visited in 2020.
Onboard, the vessel has 15 restaurants and bars, five swimming pools, a casino, a ballroom, a theater, and a planetarium.
The visit is just the beginning of what promises to be a busy season for the Port of Walvis Bay.
According to the Namibian Ports Authority, 26 more passenger vessels are expected to arrive at the port between March and May of this year.
This comes as Regent Seven Seas Cruises has announced that its upcoming World Cruise for 2026, which will embark on a 154-night voyage across 41 countries and six continents, will include a stop at the Port of Walvis Bay.
