Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) is exploring digital transformative opportunities in Oranjemund through talks with the Orangemund OMDis leadership.

The settlement transformation agency has been tasked with driving economic diversification and ensuring the town’s sustainability by 2030 and beyond.

During the meeting, Elton Katangolo, General Manager Product Solutions at MTC, emphasized the company’s ability to support the town’s transformation plans.

“With the life of the mine expected to be until 2042, there are potentially 140 businesses that could benefit from connectivity solutions either directly or indirectly dependent on the mining industry,” said Katangolo.

“As a digital enabler, accelerating a digital transformation program is central to MTC’s plans for Oranjemund.”

Katangolo went on to highlighted the importance of digitalizing business and operational support systems for improving efficiency and customer service.

“We stand ready to execute on our strategy of technologies and disruptive innovations to help Oranjemund achieve its objectives.”

In addition to meeting with OMDis, MTC has also engaged with the management of NAMDEB and the Town Council of Oranjemund, as well as other stakeholders in the town.
