Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) has announced its foray into the lucrative e-commerce space by revealing the planned launch of an online store, “Bluetick” , expected to go live on the 1st of December, 2021.

According to MTC’s Chief Human Capital and Corporate Affairs Officer, Tim Ekandjo, “Bluetick” will create a platform for local designers and creatives to better market and sell their fashion.

“The objective of Bluetick initiative is to uplift the Namibian fashion and design industry, through creating opportunities that support and encourage talented Namibian fashion designers to showcase their talent and be able to make a living out of it. These groups of talented designers have now collaborated with MTC to design exclusive clothing for different age groups and accessories for the MTC brand. These designs will be exclusive to MTC while the designers will pocket the earnings derived from the sale on Bluetick,” he said.

What we still need to know

Will the platform will be zero-rated for MTC subscribers? Zero-rating’ is when an ISP applies a price of zero to the data traffic associated with a particular application or class of applications.

Will Bluetick only sell clothing or it will be a fully-fledged online store with other products on offer?
