Presidential task forces submit reports, focus shift to implementation

The three Presidential Task Forces established following Namibia’s inaugural Public-Private Forum have completed their work and submitted recommendations to President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, with government now shifting its focus to implementing the proposed reforms.

National Planning Commission (NPC) Director General Ambassador Dr Kaire Mbuende said the Task Forces on Economic Recovery and Transformation, Housing, Land Delivery and Sanitation, and Health submitted their final reports to the President on 31 March 2026, marking the end of their mandate.

The task forces were established after the inaugural Namibia Public-Private Forum held in October 2025 to bring together experts from the public and private sectors to identify practical interventions to accelerate implementation in areas critical to Namibia’s socio-economic development.

“I am pleased to report that the Task Forces successfully completed their assignments and formally submitted high-quality reports and recommendations to Her Excellency the President on 31 March 2026. This achievement reflects the dedication of the members of the Task Forces, the quality of collaboration that has emerged between the public and private sectors, and a shared determination to contribute towards national development,” Mbuende said.

He said the submission of the reports marked the beginning of implementation rather than the end of the process.

“The submission of these reports is not the conclusion of the process. Rather, it represents the beginning of a new phase focused on implementation. The true value of the recommendations contained in these reports will ultimately be measured by the extent to which they contribute to improving service delivery, unlocking investment, expanding economic opportunities, strengthening competitiveness, creating jobs, and improving the quality of life of our citizens,” he said.

According to Mbuende, the recommendations will be assessed on their ability to improve service delivery, attract investment, boost competitiveness, expand economic opportunities, create jobs and improve living standards.

The NPC has already begun tracking the implementation of commitments, recommendations and directives arising from the inaugural forum in partnership with the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB), which co-ordinates the initiative.

Mbuende said the monitoring process is aimed at strengthening accountability and transparency while ensuring that the forum remains a credible platform for collaboration between government and the private sector.

“In this regard, the National Planning Commission, working closely with the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board as co-coordinator of the Namibia Public-Private Forum, has commenced the process of tracking the implementation of the commitments, recommendations, and directives that emerged from the inaugural Forum. This work is guided by the conviction that accountability and transparency are essential for sustaining confidence among stakeholders and ensuring that the Forum remains a credible platform for national dialogue and action,” he said.

Looking ahead, Mbuende said the next Namibia Public-Private Forum will not only identify new priorities but will also assess progress made in implementing commitments from the inaugural meeting.

“As we prepare for the next Namibia Public-Private Forum, our intention is not only to identify new priorities and opportunities, but also to provide a clear account of the progress made against the commitments already undertaken. In this way, the Forum becomes a living process of engagement, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement,” he said.
