The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) has appointed Cornelia Shipindo as Executive of the Namibia Cyber Security Incident Response Team (NAM-CSIRT), effective 1 October 2026.
Shipindo will oversee Namibia’s national cyber security incident response capability, including efforts to strengthen preparedness against cyber threats and protect critical information infrastructure.
Her responsibilities will include coordinating responses to cyber incidents, strengthening collaboration between key stakeholders, improving cyber security awareness and supporting the implementation of national cyber security priorities.
NAM-CSIRT is housed within CRAN and serves as part of Namibia’s efforts to strengthen its ability to respond to cyber security incidents affecting government institutions, businesses and the wider public.
Shipindo has experience in cyber security, ICT governance, risk management, digital transformation, regulatory compliance, project management and stakeholder engagement.
CRAN Chief Executive Officer and Head of NAM-CSIRT Emilia Nghikembua said Shipindo’s appointment comes as Namibia faces an evolving cyber threat environment.
“We are pleased to welcome Ms. Cornelia Shipindo to CRAN’s leadership team. Her extensive experience in cyber security, ICT governance, and strategic management will be instrumental in strengthening Namibia’s cyber resilience and advancing our vision of a secure, trusted, and digitally empowered nation,” Nghikembua said.
“Her leadership will further deepen collaboration among government, industry, academia, and international partners as we respond to the rapidly evolving cyber threat landscape.”
Shipindo said her appointment comes at a critical stage in Namibia’s digital transformation and that strengthening cooperation between institutions will be central to improving the country’s cyber security preparedness.
“Cyber security is a shared responsibility, and I look forward to working with government institutions, industry stakeholders, academia, and international partners to strengthen cyber resilience, enhance incident response capabilities, and promote a culture of cyber security awareness across the nation,” she said.
NAM-CSIRT said it will continue strengthening national incident response capabilities, information sharing and cooperation aimed at protecting Namibia’s digital infrastructure.
