Absa Bank Limited has expanded its exchange traded note (ETN) offering in Namibia following the secondary listing of its NewWave Silver Exchange Traded Note (ETN) on the Namibia Securities Exchange (NSX).
The listing, approved by the NSX Listing Committee, became effective at the start of trading on Friday, 7 August 2026.
The NewWave Silver ETN trades on the NSX under the share code NWNSLV, while retaining its primary listing on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) under the code NEWSLV.
The dual listing gives Namibian investors access to the NewWave Silver ETN through the local securities market, with the NSX listing price aligned to the prevailing price on the JSE.
Absa said the listing forms part of its broader strategy to expand its NewWave ETN offering across selected African markets where the bank operates, while improving investor access to alternative investment products.
“The dual listing is intended to improve access for investors in Namibia and forms part of Absa’s broader initiative to expand its NewWave ETN offering across selected Absa presence markets in Africa,” the bank said.
The NewWave Silver ETN enables investors to gain exposure to movements in the price of silver without having to purchase, transport or store the physical metal, providing an alternative investment product within a regulated exchange environment.
The ETNs are unconditional, unsecured and unsubordinated obligations of Absa Bank Limited and are listed on the JSE under the bank’s NewWave Exchange Traded Note Programme.
Each NewWave Silver ETN represents approximately 1/100th of a troy ounce of silver, after accounting for an annual investor fee of 0.40%.
Silver is one of the world’s most actively traded precious metals and is priced internationally in US dollars per fine ounce.
The NewWave Silver ETN is listed in the Specialist Securities sector of the JSE’s Main Board.
Cirrus Securities (Pty) Ltd is the sponsoring broker for the NSX listing, while Absa Bank Limited Corporate and Investment Bank acts as sponsor on the JSE.
