ECB CEO Robert Kahimise said to cushion the impact on consumers, the government has allocated a subsidy of N$283 million for the financial year.

The adjustment raises the average tariff from the current approved rate of 1.99 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) to 2.06 cents per kWh.

This follows NamPower’s application for a 17.44% tariff increase.
