FlyNamibia has announced the planned launch of the new Windhoek – Victoria Falls service, commencing on 4 April 2024.
Flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays between Windhoek Hosea Kutako International Airport and the iconic Zimbabwean resort town.
“This new route is a key element in FlyNamibia’s network expansion strategy, which aims to enhance regional connectivity and promote tourism within Namibia and position Windhoek as an alternative gateway to the region,” André Compion, Managing Director of FlyNamibia said on Tuesday.
“By connecting Windhoek and Victoria Falls, we will create new travel opportunities for tourists and also for business travelers. In doing so, FlyNamibia will stimulate much-needed tourism while also fostering trade, commerce, and broader economic activity between Namibia and Zimbabwe.”
Compion said FlyNamibia’s direct route between Windhoek and Victoria Falls will create new opportunities across the tourism sector, including tour operators, hospitality and accommodation businesses, as well as safari excursions and adventure travel operators, which will be able to tap into new source markets with new offerings and itineraries.
“Through its partnership with Airlink and access to the Global Distribution System, FlyNamibia can promote its new flights and packages to markets that were previously beyond reach,” he said.
This comes as FlyNamibia in September launched flights connecting Windhoek and Walvis Bay to Cape Town four times a week.
FlyNamibia currently operates domestic routes from Eros Airport in Windhoek to Ondangwa, Rundu, Katima Mulilo, Lüderitz, and Oranjemund, as well as a regional route between Hosea Kutako International Airport and Cape Town International.
FlyNamibia Safari connects travelers between Hosea Kutako International Airport and Sossusvlei, Swakopmund, Twyfelfontein, Etosha – Ongava, Etosha – Mokuti, as well as from Eros Windhoek to Rundu.
