LearnOnOne supplementary education initiative has broadcast 2,080 lessons per annum since its inception in 2020, according to figures shared.

The initiative is a Section 21 Company which broadcasts recorded school lessons and other educational material on OneAfrica television.

Through LearnOnOne, OneAfrica pursues to support learners and bridge the digital divide by providing access to free education through broadcast television as a widely accessible platform.

In order to ensure that Namibians continue to have access to these lessons, Santam Namibia has recommitted N$100,000 to the production and broadcast of 51 videos.

The sponsorship is in line with Santam’s Corporate Social Investment pillar of education assistance to schools and job creation programmes.

“We believe that education is the key to a brighter future that every child has the right to. It is good to know that OneAfrica is making a difference in the lives of children through the LearnOnOne programme by making school lessons freely available for learners,” Santam’s HR and Sustainability Manager Priscilla Malgas said on Wednesday.

Malgas also urged other corporations to join them in their support of the initiative as it provides a platform for accessibility and can be life changing for children as well as the Namibian economy.

“It would be great if we can get some other partners on board for further assistance for LearnOnOne to have increased capacity to reach even more learners,” she said.

Commenting on Santam’s contribution to the initiative, LearnOnOne Founder and OneAfrica CEO Stefan Hugo said: “We are working hard to build a resilient and robust complimentary education solution to support Namibian children. Through their sponsorship, Santam Namibia shows that they share our passion for a game-changing diverse Namibian education ecosystem. We are humbled and thankful to have this leading company as a partner.”
