FlyNamibia has made several schedule changes to its existing routes, including the route between Eros Windhoek and Ondangwa, and Hosea Kutako International and Cape Town International.
According to changes announced on Tuesday, the airline will adjust the frequency of the afternoon Eros-Ondangwa route to every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, in effect removing flights currently offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
The Windhoek-Cape Town schedule will be adjusted to operate on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday and these changes will take effect on 10 April.
“FlyNamibia remains committed to serving the Namibian market and will continue to monitor passenger demand on all routes to ensure that we are providing the best possible service to our customers. FlyNamibia currently operates domestic routes from Eros Airport in Windhoek to Ondangwa, Rundu, Katima Mulilo, Walvis Bay and Oranjemund, as well as a regional route between Hosea Kutako International Airport and Cape Town International,” the airline said on Tuesday.
FlyNamibia has also announced that it will be changing the aircraft used for the route between Eros Windhoek and Rundu from an 18 passenger Beechcraft 1900D to a 10 passenger Cessna F406 twin turbine non-pressurised aircraft, with effect from 5 April 2023.
The decision, according to the airline, was made to make the route more convenient for business travellers by enabling the option to fly into Rundu in the morning and return to Windhoek in the afternoon, with the aircraft change meant to align with the current passenger load factor on the route, allowing for long-term sustainability.
“The aircraft added onto the route has proven itself in the Namibian operating environment as being a safe and reliable platform. We have been making successful use of this aircraft on the FlyNamibia Safari route and we are excited that this change will bring sustainability to the Rundu route. If passenger loads increase we will change to a larger aircraft to operate this route again,” said Andrè Compion, Managing Director of FlyNamibia.
