The Capricorn Group, has announced the appointment of Vetumbuavi Mungunda as a non-executive director of Bank Windhoek, effective 8 February 2023.

Mungunda, the former CEO of Standard Bank Namibia, will also be seated on the bank’s Audit Committee and the Board Risk and Compliance Committee.

The Capricorn Group expressed excitement over Mungunda’s appointment and stated that the board welcomes him and looks forward to his contributions.

Mungunda stepped down from his role at Standard Bank Namibia in April 2021 after seven years of leading the listed banking group.

He is at the helm of Ombu Capital, an investment company he founded in 2021 that focuses on various sectors including agriculture, tourism, technology, and manufacturing.

In addition to providing consultancy services, Ombu Capital has acquired a 36% stake in Schoemans Group.
