AfriTin shareholders approve name change to Andrada Mining

AfriTin Mining shareholders approved a resolution on Thursday to change the company’s name to Andrada Mining Ltd.

The Namibian Stock Exchange-listed company, which focuses on technology metals mining in Namibia, will now apply to the Registrar of Companies in Guernsey to register the name change.

The new name honors Brazilian mineralogist José Bonifácio de Andrada e Silva, who discovered petalite and spodumene, two minerals important in the production of lithium and reflective of its expansion into lithium and tantalum resources, alongside its existing tin production, in the country.

This comes as the company has started pilot-scale lithium metallurgical testing, which will produce samples for potential buyers it is currently in talks with.

Results from this testing are expected in the first quarter. A lithium pilot plant in Uis, which is intended for processing bulk ore samples, is also scheduled to be completed in the second quarter.

The company previously announced that its exploration in Namibia had confirmed significant deposits of lithium, tin, and tantalum.
