NAMFISA appoints Johannes Smit Deputy CEO

The Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (NAMFISA) has appointed Johannes Smit Deputy Chief Executive Officer: Market Conduct and Operations with effect from the 1st of May 2022.

Prior to his appointment, Smit was General Manager: Finance and Administration for the non-banking sector regulator.

He replaces Boni Paulino who retired in 2021.

Johannes holds an Honours Bachelor of Accounting Science Degree with the University of South Africa and is a registered Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Namibia, the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants as well as the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

He is currently pursuing a Global MBA through the University of London (UK).

“Johannes brings a wealth of leadership experience in strategic leadership, management and finance, having served in various senior management and executive positions. NAMFISA is confident that Johannes will assist with the effective execution of the transformational agenda of the Authority as we prepare to implement the Financial Institutions and Markets Act, no. 2 of 2021,” NAMFISA CEO Kenneth Matomola said.
