Deputy Governor of the Bank of Namibia, Ebson Uanguta, will assume the role of Interim Acting Managing Director of the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (Namcor) effective Thursday, 11 January, for a period of 6 months, it was announced.

Uanguta takes over from Shiwana Ndeunyema, who served as the interim Managing Director for 9 months.

“The Board of Directors of the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Ebson Uanguta, currently the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Namibia, as the Interim Managing Director of NAMCOR,” read a statement from Namcor’s Board of Directors.

Uanguta’s career is marked by over two decades of service in executive roles at the Bank of Namibia, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise in financial and organizational management.

“A graduate of the University of Addis Ababa with a master’s degree in economics, his academic background complements his practical knowledge, making him a well-rounded leader for NAMCOR,” the Namcor Board said.

He also served in an advisory role in the Office of the Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from 2007 to 2010, further proving his capability to navigate the challenges and opportunities in the global energy landscape.

According to the announcement issued on Wednesday, the Namcor board believes that Uanguta’s leadership will be instrumental in steering NAMCOR toward new heights of success.

The Board also expressed its gratitude to the outgoing Interim Managing Director, Shiwana Ndeunyema, for his dedicated service during a crucial phase of NAMCOR’s growth.

“The Board wishes to express its gratitude to the outgoing Interim Managing Director, Mr. Shiwana Ndeunyema, for his dedicated service at a critical time of NAMCOR’s growth. During his nine-month tenure, Mr. Ndeunyema played a pivotal role in stabilizing the company and securing essential funding as part of NAMCOR’s turnaround strategy,” the statement read.miningandenergy.com.na
