Metro Namibia has expanded its footprint in the country with the opening of new retail lines – Metro Fresh and Metro Home – on Thursday at the Metro Hyper building in Kleine Kuppe, Windhoek, as part of the retailer’s expansion strategy.
“I am very proud of the work that our amazing team has done over a reasonably short period to bring these concept stores from an idea to reality. I am sure that our customers will find these stores an exciting and pleasurable shopping experience,” Bryan Davis, the Managing Director of Metro Namibia said.
Metro Fresh store will offer a full range of fresh and frozen products, while Metro Home store will cater for home-ware requirements.
“The new exciting and efficient stores are housed in the Metro Hyper building in Kleine Kuppe, which now proudly presents a one-stop shopping experience for our many valued customers. We leveraged years of research and learnings to create both the updated store design and evolve our store strategy to debut the new expanded footprint,” the retailer said.
Metro, which currently operates 23 stores and employs 1,420 employees, also plans to open six more outlets before the end of the year, creating 180 additional jobs.
The retailer also plans to launch supermarkets, increasing competition in the sector.
