The City of Windhoek has appointed its Strategic Executive for Finance and Customer Services, Jennifer Comalie as its new Acting Chief Executive Officer for a period of 3 months, with effect from Monday 15 November, 2021.

Comalie takes over from George Mayumbelo who has been acting in the position since November of last year.

Mayumbelo reverts back to his substantive position of Strategic Executive for Human Capital and Corporate Services.

The appointment comes as the City battles to find a replacement for Robert Kahimise who resigned last year after 4 years at the helm of the municipality to join Cenored.

Despite interviews having been conducted with Otjiwarongo Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Moses Matyayi and Roads Authority CEO, Conrad Lutombi being reported to have emerged as preferred candidates, no appointment has been made.

Who is Jennifer Comalie?

Jennifer Comalie is a qualified Chartered Accountant who was appointed to her current position in the municipality last December.

Before her City appointment, she was the Chief Commercial Officer of Nampost.

She is also the Board Chairperson of the National Petroleum Corporation (Namcor).
