Boat tour and cruise operators, Laramon Tours and Catamaran Charters have emerged their operations, effective March 1, 2023, following regulatory approval from the Namibia Competition Commission.
As part of the merger, all operations will now be run by Catamaran Charters and Sandwich Harbour 4×4.
“This was needed by the significant damage sustained by the Covid-19 pandemic, when we realized that many firms in the tourism industry could not survive on their own,” Theunis Keulder, Director of Catamaran Charters told The Brief.
He said noting that the two entities had difficulty staying afloat, thus the merger will reduce the sustainability concerns, while increasing operational capacity.
“In that manner, we can assure the survival of both companies, the retention of overdraft, and the retention of all workers, resulting in enhanced job security,” Keulder said.
“The clientele may expect better quality on our daily Marine Dolphin tours, availability per departure grows to 190 pax with 7 sailing and motorised Catamarans.”
Keulder said that move comes at a time when the Namibian tourism sector is expected to show significant recovery for the current financial year and will boost both entities’ performance.
“The meger puts us in a better financial position with maximum capacity to cater to the needs of our clients, especially now with the tourism sector expected to recover towards the end of the year” he added.
The company mostly offers Marine Dolphin, Seal cruises and a wide range of voyages appropriate for all ocean enthusiasts.

Laramon Tours has also taken numerous initiatives to become more environmentally friendly, and continues to implement policy improvements where possible.
