Namib Desert Diamonds (NAMDIA) has made two key appointments in its executive team.
Lelly Usiku has been appointed as the Executive for Market Development, Sales, and Branding, and Uahoroka Lovelace Watkince Kauta will take on the role of Chief Operations Officer.
These appointments will be effective January 2023.
The new executives bring a wealth of experience to the table.
Usiku has previously served as the General Manager of Sales and Marketing of the diamond sales and marketing company, while Kauta was the General Manager of Finance and Administration at the Namibia Training Authority.
These appointments follow the appointment of Alisa Amupolo as the Chief Executive Officer of NAMDIA in October last year, for a five-year term.
NAMDIA was established in 2016 through an agreement between the government of Namibia and De Beers, with the goal of verifying whether Namibia was getting the best value for its diamonds on the open market.
The company has seen significant growth in recent years, as evidenced by its financial performance for the 2021/2022 financial year.
NAMDIA recorded an after-tax profit of N$144.7 million, a staggering 988% increase from the N$13.3 million recorded in the previous corresponding period.
Additionally, the company’s diamond sales revenue for the period increased by 78.7% to N$2,36 billion (US$128 million).
