Great Wall Motors (GWM) has introduced the facelifted P300, an upgraded version of its previously named P-Series bakkie. Positioned just below the P500 in the brand’s lineup, the updated P300 brings notable improvements in performance, design and technology reinforcing its standing in the highly competitive bakkie segment.
Exterior Design
The updated P300 features a refreshed exterior that exudes confidence and modernity. Key highlights include the dechromed front grille, sleek LED headlights and pronounced wheel arches that frame 18-inch alloy wheels. Functional enhancements such as fixed sidesteps, the retained tailgate step for easier loading access and a sunroof further elevate its practicality and appeal.
Engine and Performance
Under the bonnet, the P300 is powered by a new 2.4-litre turbocharged diesel engine delivering 135 kW of power and 480 Nm of torque. This engine is coupled with a 9-speed automatic transmission, offering a noticeable improvement in both performance and fuel efficiency compared to the outgoing 2.0-litre engine, which delivered 120 kW and 400 Nm via an 8-speed gearbox. The 4×4 variant also boasts a towing capacity of up to 3.5 tonnes, making it a strong choice for those with off-road or heavy-duty towing needs.
Interior Comfort and Technology
Inside, the P300 maintains a premium cabin experience. Standard features include heated and ventilated leather seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and ambient lighting. The tech is headlined by a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charging and electrically adjustable front seats, enhancing both comfort and connectivity for occupants.
Safety and Driver Assistance
GWM has placed a strong emphasis on safety, equipping the P300 with a comprehensive suite of driver assistance systems. These include Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assist, Driver Fatigue Monitoring, Traffic Sign Recognition, Blind Spot Monitoring, Intelligent Cruise Assistance, a 360-degree camera system, six airbags and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

The GWM P300 is available in three model variants:
P300 D-Cab 2.4TD LT 2WD – N$616,900
P300 D-Cab 2.4TD LT 4WD – N$662,900
P300 D-Cab 2.4TD LTD 4WD – N$710,900
Each model comes with a 7-year/200,000 km warranty, a 7-year/75,000 km service plan, and 7 years of unlimited roadside assistance, offering peace of mind and value to owners.
