TransNamib maintains it is not a party to the settlement agreement entered into between Air Namibia and Challenge Air in 2019, in respect of an arbitration award.
” TransNamib would like to reiterate its stance that TransNamib was not party to the settlement agreement entered into between Air Namibia and Challenge Air in 2019, in respect of the arbitration award. In the meantime, TransNamib is consulting its legal representatives on the appropriate action to defend this letter of demand,” the company Spokesperson, Abigail Raubenheimer said.
This comes as the rail operator was issued with a letter of demand by Challenge Air lawyers, demanding payment of N$161 million, being a settlement awarded to the airline in an arbitration case of August 2018.
Challenge Air Lawyer, Sisa Namandje is reported to have indicated that his client could initiate liquidation proceedings against TransNamib should it fail to meet the 15 day ultimatum to make payment.
