It has emerged that 317 people applied for only three vacant executive positions at the City of Windhoek.

The overwhelming response, saw the CEO position, which aims to find a replacement for Robert Kahimise who resigned after 4 years at the helm of the municipality to join Cenored, receiving 61 applications, with only 25 being pre-shortlisted.

The position of Strategic Executive: Economic Development and Community Services received a total of 204 applications, of which 59 applicants were deemed to have met the minimum requirement and thereby qualified for consideration as part of the pre-shortlist.

For the position of, Strategic Executive: Information and Communication technology, 52 prospective candidates submitted their applications, with only 16 pre-short listed.

Already the City has shortlisted Conrad M Lutombi, Joyce Mukubi,  Dr. Charmill Zamuee, Dr. Eino Mvula and Moses Matyayi for the top job, with interviews scheduled for next week over two days.

Five candidates have also been shortlisted for interviews for the position of Strategic Executive: Economic Development and Community Services, namely Leslie W Puriza, James Kalundu, Mary-Anne Kahitu , Zurilea Steenkamp and Vernouman V Endjala.

CoW Acting CEO, Mujiwa Mayumbelo said shortlisted candidates for the Strategic Executive: Information and CommunicationTechnology position will be announced soon.

“Given the strategic importance of the executive positions, a rigorous and thorough recruitment and selection process shall be embarked upon and shall comprise of a myriad of selection tools and methods aimed at ensuring that the most suitable candidate is selected and recommended for each of the respective executive positions,” he said.
