Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) has officially opened a new MTC dealer shop in Otjinene.
According to the telco, the new shop will allow its customers in the town to access a range of MTC services, such as contract applications, account payments and renewals, SIM replacement, data and device setup, and recharge vouchers, among others.
Previously, MTC served its customers through Nampost, which provided limited services that included only the sale and replacement of SIM cards.
“This is a customer-oriented move to bring services closer to the people because we believe that everyone should have easy access to our services. Before this new dealer shop, the people of Otjinene and other adjacent constituencies used to travel hundreds of kilometers to Gobabis or Grootfontein to, for instance, open a contract account. We are thus glad that this will not be the case anymore. Additionally, while this is an act of decentralizing our services, the dealership concept also provides income for our dealers, who earn a commission from serving our clientele, especially in remote areas,” said John Ekongo, MTC Corporate Affairs Manager.
Speaking at the opening event, Councillor of Otjinene Constituency Erwin Katjizeu commended MTC for its inclusive approach to expanding its presence to remote areas, emphasizing that individuals and local businesses alike will benefit from the newly opened MTC dealer shop.
“Today marks a significant milestone for our community. MTC’s presence will not just benefit individuals but also facilitate business growth and opportunities. It is an economic stimulation. We will now have easy access to smart communication tools and services that improve our communication experience and bridge the digital divide. We, therefore, celebrate and welcome this development because it aligns with our community advancement strategy,” he said.
