The Ministry of Finance has announced that NamPost will officially take over the distribution of social grants nationwide from 1 October 2025.

The ministry said the appointment of NamPost as the official service provider is expected to “improve service efficiency, enhance financial inclusion, and ensure consistent access to social grants for all qualifying recipients”.

Under the new arrangement, all beneficiaries living in towns or settlements will be required to collect their grants directly from the nearest NamPost office.

Only those residing in areas beyond a five-kilometre radius from a NamPost branch will continue to receive their grants through the postal service’s mobile outreach and delivery services.

“NamPost’s national presence and infrastructure make it well-positioned to deliver a reliable and streamlined grants payment system,” the ministry said.

Current recipients are encouraged to attend upcoming regional meetings for further details.

“Further details about specific payment schedules and collection locations will be communicated in due course through radio, print media, and community engagement efforts,” the ministry added.

The Ministry of Finance, in partnership with NamPost, said it remains committed to ensuring that “no recipient is left behind and that the rollout of this new service model is done in an orderly and accessible manner”
