Metro Hypers total basket cost dropped by N$58.88. This move was reflected by it moving up 2 ranks and earning the number one spot as the most affordable hyper. Out of the 19 items surveyed, 8 items’ prices remained unchanged, only 4 items increased in price, and the rest of the items experienced price drops.

Woermann Hyper was the only hyper to see a price increase, this month, with its total basket going from N$892.81 to N$922.31. This 3.3% increase was driven by notable price hikes in bathroom essentials such as toilet paper and soap, with the highest price hike being a 30% increase. While most items trended upward a few essentials like white sugar, tomatoes, and tomato sauce saw modest declines (under 15%), and key stables such as Top Score Maize Meal, cooking oil, and pasta remained stable.

Top Score is still experiencing volatile pricing, as all 3 hypers had different pricing strategies.

Although it ranked as the most expensive hyper this month, Woermann Hyper has demonstrated the most stable and consistent pricing strategy, having maintained the same price for maize meal since February 2025. Compared to June 2024, Woermann Hyper had the second highest price increase of 10%, going from N$65.99 in June 2024, to N$72.99 in June 2025.
