Andrada Mining has commenced its initial exploration program for the Brandberg West exploration license in Namibia.
According to Andrada Mining CEO Anthony Viljoen, the exploration program will enable the miner to determine the extent of mineralization in and around the Brandberg West mine, allowing the company to replicate the successful development process implemented at its Uis mine. This transformation took the Uis mine from an abandoned historical operation to a fully-fledged producing mine.
“The historical data indicates that EPL5445 has the potential to double the current volume of tin concentrate produced at Uis and add tungsten to the expanding list of metals produced by Andrada. The Erongo region continues to prove itself as an untapped technology metals province, and we are excited to begin work on what we believe will become another world-class technology metals asset,” he said.
A dual-phased approach is planned for the development of the Brandberg West license area.
“The initial phase will investigate the historical mining area and potential extensions of mineralization along strike, with a focus on the northern extension due to the abundance of mineralized veins visible at the surface. This initial phase will also include an evaluation of high-grade mineralization in the historical pit through a detailed drilling program. The mobilization of a drilling program, comprising 3,000 meters, will commence during the second half of this calendar year, and further updates will be provided as results are obtained. The second phase involves an investigation of the mineralization potential of the wider license area. Essentially, this program will explore multiple occurrences of mineralization through sampling and geological mapping to establish potential enrichment trends,” the company stated.
Brandberg West is currently the sole Namibian exploration license within Andrada’s portfolio.
“Brandberg West will solidify Andrada’s tech-metals portfolio by potentially adding critical metals revenue streams, including tungsten and copper as a by-product. We look forward to continuing our exploration program aimed at re-establishing the historical Brandberg West Mine,” Viljoen added.
