Moses Matyayi has officially assumed his duties as the incumbent Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the City of Windhoek.
This comes after the former Otjiwarongo Municipality CEO officially accepted the municipality’s offer in May.
Initially, Conrad Lutombi, the Roads Authority CEO, had ranked highest during the recruitment interview process, but declined the appointment.
The development ensures that the capital city will now have a permanent leader, filling the vacancy left since November 2020 after the resignation of Robert Kahimise.
Matyayi holds a Master of Arts degree in Human Resources Management from London Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom, as well as a Bachelor of Technology in Human Resources from the then Polytechnic of Namibia, now Namibia University of Science and Technology.
He also has prior experience as the CEO of the Otavi Town Council for over a decade, from 2010 to 2020.
