Capricorn Group’s Chief Information Officer, Dr. Etienne Slabbert, has been conferred with the CIO of the Year 2023 award.

The award is based on Dr. Slabbert’s achievements, as assessed by the industry, organizers, and the panel that selected the winners.

The award was announced at the 19th edition of the Finnovex Southern Africa 2023 Awards, hosted in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Finnovex commended Dr. Slabbert for his inspirational leadership in the IT sector, “propelling the industry towards a future of unprecedented possibilities.”

“It was a pleasant surprise to be awarded the prestigious CIO of the Year Award for Southern Africa at the 19th Finnovex event alongside other esteemed industry leaders. Working in IT at Capricorn Group makes it easy to achieve success and industry recognition, as the Group provides an opportunity for all of us to be part of the implementation of transformational projects as we continue to transform our digital systems across the Group,” Dr. Slabbert said.

“Living in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) world and all the advances and opportunities it brings makes it an exciting time for all of us in IT to showcase our abilities to implement world-class solutions that the industry and our peers acknowledge, and that also makes it much easier for our customers to use our products and services,” he added.

Finnovex is a series of Summits examining the future of financial services and how disruptive innovations are reshaping how they are structured, provisioned, and consumed.
